Police say they have identified a man's body found in Richmond Thursday morning but are not yet releasing his name.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokesperson Frank Jang says the man's death has been ruled a homicide but the identity is being withheld &qu ot;out of respect for the family."
"Our investigators are now, even as I speak, approaching the home of the victim's family," Jang told reporters Thursday night in Richmond.

"I can tell you that our victim, from what we know, he was well known to police. He's very well known to the local Richmond RCMP."
The body was found in the 16600 block of Dyke Road, not far from the north end of the Massey Tunnel, police said.

Richmond RCMP said in a release that officers were called at around 11 a.m. PT Thursday. Jang said a passerby discovered it on a dirt road.
RCMP said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation.

IHIT said in a tweet that officers from both forces were canvassing the area Thursday night.
