US President Donald Trump has called for comedian Samantha Bee to be fired after she made a crude remark about his daughter Ivanka Trump on her television show.
- Samantha Bee has since apologised for the comment
- She made the comment while discussing controversial immigration policies
- Ivanka Trump has also recently come under fire for tweeting an affectionate family photo as news circulated US immigration agents were separating families
Mr Trump tweeted that it was a "total double standard" that US television station TBS had not cancelled Bee's show, Full Frontal, after the comedian said Ms Trump was a "feckless c***" on controversial immigration policies.
Ms Trump herself caused a stir last week when she tweeted a picture cuddling he r young son in the wake of widespread reports US immigration agents were separating children from their parents.
The President appeared to be referring to a decision by ABC America to cancel Roseanne Barr's show, a favourite among conservatives, after Barr jokingly compared a former White House aide in the Obama administration who is African-American to an ape.

"Why aren't they firing no talent Samantha Bee for the horrible language used on her low ratings show?" he tweeted early on Friday.
The tweet was the latest salvo in the US "culture war". Across social media platforms this week, Americans hotly debated whether Bee â" whose feminist style comedy often criticises sexism â" was justified in using a misogynistic expletive to criticise Ms Tr ump.
Trump supporters noted the term used by Bee would result in immediate pushback had it been aimed at a female Democratic official, such as Representative Nancy Pelosi.
Why Samantha Bee was angry
The US comedian is angry Ivanka Trump tweeted a photo cuddling her son, but it's America's immigration policies that really have her hot under the collar.
In a 2014 interview, before the #MeToo movement, actor Gary Oldman used the word in reference to Ms Pelosi in a tirade on "political correctness" that drew little pushback.
Mr Trump himself has repeatedly drawn fire for his sexist language and sexual boasting.
A 2005 Access Hollywood video featured audio of Mr Trump bragging about how he grabbed women's genitals and got away with it.
On the tape, Mr Trump talked about forcing himself on women, kissing them and gropin g them.
Mr Trump eventually apologised for his comments.
Ivanka's unprecedented White House role
The Samantha Bee incident also underscored the unprecedented role Ms Trump plays at the White House.
While the children of presidents are often shielded from public jokes by comedians because of their age and because they are not White House employees, Ms Trump has taken an active policy role as an adult in her father's White House.External Link: Twitter: Sam Bee Ivanka slur
A close presidential adviser, she has promoted the administration's tax overhaul and led a US delegation at the Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Bee apologised to Ms Trump and her viewers on Thursday (local time) for using the obscenity.
Her network, TBS, also said it was "our mistake, too", in allowing the language on Bee's show on Wednesday.
Her show is taped and not aired live. Separately, Barr has apol ogised for her remarks.
