Cockerton, Dickson lead Canada in rout of Scotland at lacrosse worlds

NETANYA, Israel â€" Mark Cockerton and Curtis Dickson scored four goals apiece to lead Canada to a 22-3 rout over Scotland on Saturday at the men’s lacrosse world championship.

Jeffrey Teat had eight points with seven assists, Kevin Crowley and Ben McIntosh scored three goals each, and Joshua Byrne had two goals and two helpers.

Tre Leclaire also scored twice for the Canadians, who improved to 2-0 after openi ng the tournament Friday with a 12-6 win over England. Zach Currier, Ian MacKay and Mark Matthews added singles.

Canada kept Scotland off the board over the first three quarters.

Luke Laszkiewicz broke the shutout in the 61st minute of the match and Colin Uyeki and Daniel McQuade tacked on goals in the final five minutes for the Scottish team.

Canada outshot Scotland 47-13.

The Canadians play the United States on Sunday.
